In the depths of the wheat famine throughout the Levant in the early 1900s, the Italian ship Rozana was rumoured to be coming to the rescue, bringing food to starving communities. The ship's arrival was anxiously anticipated, but when it finally reached the shore it was found to be carrying nothing but apples and grapes – the only two crops that locals had been able to save – and a curse was set upon the ship Rozana.
