about

An ancient Swedish hymn set to a new melody composed by Sofie Livebrant. Traditionally sung at funerals, the narrator prays for their spirit to follow a bird into the afterlife, and their body to return to the earth. An Egyptian Arabic song is also heard, lamenting the hardships of the Egyptian people throughout history. The title asks: “Why does the sea laugh?”
